Chevron Duo beads are 10x4mm chevron-shaped two-hole Czech beads from Matubo!
MATERIALS
(for a 7-inch bracelet,
not including clasp)
• About 3 yards of 6 lb. FireLine
• About 125 size 11/0 rocaille seed beads (for well-defined seed
bead “peaks” around the outer edge of the Chevron Duo beads, use some
nice “fat” rocaille seed beads—metallic Miyuki or Toho 11/0
seed beads)
• About 30 size 3mm beads
(round or fire-polished beads)
• About 14 Matubo GemDuo beads
• About 28 Matubo Chevron Duo beads (10x4mm chevron-shaped two-hole beads from Matubo)
• clasp
Step 1: Thread your needle with about 3 yards of FireLine (or start with a length that you are comfortable with and add more later).
Leaving a 12-inch tail for attaching your clasp, go down through
the left hole of a Chevron Duo bead, the left hole of a GemDuo bead and
the left hole of another Chevron Duo bead:
For this tutorial, the Chevron Duo beads should be positioned the way they appear in my illustrations as you add them.
NOTE: You will not be making a knot until Step 3 so keep the tension tight and hold onto this tail thread for now.
Step 2: String five seed beads. Go around and up
through the right hole of the Chevron Duo bead, the GemDuo bead and the
Chevron Duo bead that you just exited (highlighted in
RED):
Step 3: String five seed beads. Grab your tail thread and tie a tight double knot:
Step 4: Go back around through the left hole of
the Chevron Duo bead, the left hole of the GemDuo bead, the left hole of
the Chevron Duo bead, the five seed beads, the right hole of the
Chevron Duo bead, the right hole of the GemDuo bead and the right hole
of the Chevron Duo bead highlighted in
RED:
You just finished the first Anchor Bracelet motif and you will repeat Steps 5-9 to add more.
Step 5: String a seed bead, a 3mm bead and a seed bead.
Go down through the left hole of a new Chevron Duo bead, GemDuo bead and Chevron Duo bead. String a seed bead, a 3mm bead and a
seed bead.
Go around and up through the right hole
of the Chevron Duo bead, the GemDuo bead and the Chevron Duo bead
in the adjacent Anchor Bracelet motif that you just completed
(highlighted in
RED):
Step 6: Go around and back through the seed bead,
the 3mm bead, the seed bead, the left hole of the Chevron Duo bead, the
left hole of the GemDuo bead and the left hole of the Chevron Duo bead
that you added in the last step (highlighted in
RED):
Step 7: String five seed beads. Go around and up
through the right hole of the Chevron Duo bead, the GemDuo bead and the
Chevron Duo bead that you just exited (highlighted in
RED):
Step 8: String five seed beads. Go around and
down through the left hole of the Chevron Duo bead, the GemDuo bead and
the Chevron Duo bead that you just exited (highlighted in
RED):
Step 9: Go back around through the five seed
beads, the right hole of the Chevron Duo bead, the right hole of the
GemDuo bead and the right hole of the Chevron Duo bead highlighted in
RED:
You just finished the second Anchor motif.
Step 10: Repeat Step 5 to Step 9 until your bracelet is the length you want it, minus the length of your clasp and about a half-inch:
Step 11: Go back across through the seed beads above the Chevron Duo bead highlighted in
RED
but skip the middle seed bead. Pull tight and as you do, this middle
seed bead will pop up, giving you a nice “peak” of seed beads:
NOTE: You can go through all five
seed beads instead of skipping the middle seed bead in the grouping in
this step and other steps if you prefer a more rounded grouping of seed
beads or if the seed beads that you used are on the small size and will
not form a “peak”.
Step 12: Go through the seed bead, the 3mm bead, the seed bead and the seed beads highlighted in
RED
above the next Chevron Duo bead, skipping that middle seed bead and
pulling tight to let it pop out if you wish to create a “peak” of seed
beads:
Step 13: Repeat the last step all the way across the top of the bracelet:
Step 14: Go back down through the left hole of the beads highlighted in
RED:
Step 15: Go through seed beads highlighted in
RED
below the bottom first Chevron Duo bead, skipping that middle seed bead
and pulling tight to let it pop out if you wish to create a “peak” of
seed beads:
Step 16: Go through the seed bead, the 3mm bead,
the seed bead and the seed beads highlighted in
RED below the next Chevron Duo bead, skipping that middle seed bead
and pulling tight to let it pop out if you wish to create a “peak” of
seed beads:
Step 17: Repeat the last step all the way across the bottom of the bracelet:
Step 18: To attach your clasp, go up through the right hole of the Chevron Duo and GemDuo beads highlighted in
RED:
Step 19: String a seed bead, a 3mm bead and three
more seed beads. Go through your clasp and back through the last seed
bead that you just strung:
NOTE: To make your bracelet longer, just add more beads than directed in this step and the next.
Step 20: String two more seed beads, a 3mm bead
and another seed bead. Go up through the right hole of the Chevron Duo
and GemDuo beads highlighted in
RED:
Step 21: Go back around through the beads highlighted
in
RED and the clasp twice:
Step 22: For some extra strength, go back around through the beads highlighted in
RED and the clasp:
Weave into the bracelet, knot in several places and then cut your thread.
Step 23: To attach the clasp to the other end of your bracelet, thread your needle with the tail thread from Step 1.
Go up through the right hole of the Chevron Duo and GemDuo beads highlighted in
RED:
Repeat Steps 19-22.
