I am always amazed at the beautiful rivolis available on eBay (and heaven knows, I have spent a small fortune on them). Beading in the Rain constantly wows me. They always have some great auctions going but their "Buy It Now" selection is also worth a long look.
In addition, Beading in the Rain is one of the few shops where you can buy Swarovksi rivolis with special coatings. I just received some 12mm Mystic Shimmer rivolis that I won in an auction and the picture just does not do them justice because they are so beautiful:
I have also purchased Beading in the Rain's Water Lily, Peacock, Mystic Crystal and Glacier Blue rivolis—all equally lovely, especially the Peacock rivolis because they are so unique:

New pattern uploaded: the Crystal Wiggle Bracelet
I just uploaded a new pattern to my Web site: Crystal Wiggle Bracelet, $4, also available at Bead-patterns.com:
This bracelet is made by combining hana-ami motifs and then running FireLine through the outer edge of seed beads and fire-polished beads to firm up the "wiggle" and give the bracelet some added strength and smoothness. The pattern is fully illustrated with detailed step-by-step instructions and would look great in holiday colors.

FREE!
Every time I post a free pattern, there are always a number of beaders who email to thank me for my generosity. When I look at some of the other "free" patterns and instructions out there on the Web, I am always amazed and proud to be part of such a generous community of artists. So, for those of you who are not aware of just how much wonderful "free" stuff is out there, this will be the first of a multi-blog series.
Ruby's Jewelry Design & Beadwork
Whenever beaders email and ask where I think the best place is for a beginner to start learning how to beadweave, I always send them to Ruby's site and tell them to order a copy of Beading with Ruby. However, Ruby also has loads of free tutorials up at RubysBeadwork.com and they are all well-illustrated, step-by-step and excellent. It's quite a varied collection, reflecting years of hard work. My favorites are her Herringbone stitch bracelets:
Whimbeads Free Beading Tutorials
This is where I learned to bezel a rivoli and there's also intructions for a Flat Undulating Herringbone Bracelet that is just awesome. For those of you who have been wanting to try out Miyuki's new Tila beads, Whimbeads just uploaded their Spikey TILA Bead Bracelet Tutorial:
Eva Maria Keiser Designs
If you are looking to learn some really unique beadweaving—and especially if you are a fan of the beaded bead—then check out Eva's "Complimentary" instructions, available for download in PDF form when you click on an image on the Learn page, with more free patterns available on her blog.
I look at her work in her blog and think, "Oh my heavens... never in a million years would I find the talent to create this kind of intricate beauty" but many of her free patterns certainly make me want to try.

Photoshop Tip: Removing a Color Cast
If you do a lot of jewelry photography and have Photoshop, you may be interested in my latest Photoshop tip, Removing a Color Cast, at my sister site, EspressoGraphics.com.
When it comes to photographing my beadwork, I often end up with an annoying color cast even when I photograph the jewelry using a light box, turn off the flash, use an Ott-Lite for lighting and fiddle with the settings on my digital camera. I have found that the quickest and easiest way to get rid of that color cast is to convert the image to Lab mode in Photoshop and tinker with it there.
This Photoshop CS3 tip shows you how to go from this:

The big fat cuff
I've always been attracted to some of the big fat cuffs some beaders have created and wondered what would happen if I added a third row to the Pebbled Bracelet. I also attempted a bead clasp:
To make the bead clasp, in Step 46, I strung three seed beads, a 6mm glass pearl and a seed bead. Then I went back down through the seed bead, the 6mm glass pearl and the seed bead that I just strung. For Step 47, I strung two more seed beads and then went down and around through the seed beads highlighted in RED. From there, it was just a matter of going around through these beads to strengthen the bead clasp:
To make the loop attachment on the other end, I strung twelve seed beads and then went down and around through the seed beads highlighted in RED. I then went around through the loop of seed beads several times to reinforce it:

Beading with gemstones
I have quite a few pretty gemstones left over from my wire-wrapping phase and wondered how they would look in some of my earring patterns. My favorite turned out to be the Crystal Drop Earrings using 6mm tigereye beads (left) and 6mm faceted amethyst beads (right) instead of 6mm bicone crystals:
Here are my Bijoux Earrings using 4mm tigereye beads (left) and 4mm garnet beads (right) instead of 4mm pearls:
